Eight Horses Chinese Scroll Painting – Silk Wall Art – Black And White Calligraphy

In this eight horses scroll painting, the black and white calligraphy theme is less depicted than inhabited. Line quality is the quiet hero here, steady and expressive at once. As a piece of feng shui home decor, it reads clearly from across the room and keeps giving on closer inspection.

The black-and-white scheme keeps the picture stark and elegant. Layers of ink wash model the landscape without a single hard edge. A column of calligraphy runs down one side, adding the scholar's voice to the picture. The ink work is confident without being showy, exact without being stiff. Silk gives the colors a muted glow that deepens under soft light.

As a piece of chinese painting for home decor, it carries the calm authority of the classical tradition. A calm picture for a busy house, and all the more welcome for it. It brings a sense of order to a busy wall.
