North America 1965 Shaded Relief Map
This map is based on a 1965 geological survey map of North America, capturing the continent's mountain ranges, river basins, and plateaus at a scale few wall maps attempt — from the Arctic tundra to Central America. We georeferenced the original and layered in modern digital elevation data, hand-shading the terrain for convincing three-dimensional depth.
The dimension you see is created entirely through printed shading, not texture — it's flat to the touch and frames like any fine art paper print.
A note on legibility: this map preserves the original 1965 lettering, so some labels are small, and text beneath the darkest shading can be hard to read. Our largest size shows the clearest detail.
