On March 19, 2013, Pope Francis, the first Pope from the Americas, stepped out onto the balcony of St. Peter's Basilica and into the hearts of 1.2 billion around the world.

He chosed a silver cross, realized by an Italian artist: Antonio Vedele. It was the same cross he used to have as a bishop.

This cross is the symbol of the new church, a poorer church. Poor amongst poors.

This specific Pope Francis Prayer Cross is a highly detailed re-creation of Pope Francis' own pectoral cross. The cross depicts Jesus as the Good Shepherd, carrying the lost sheep on his shoulders and protecting the rest of the flock from harm. On top of everything there is a representation of the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove. This beloved portrait conveys a powerful message that we all must minister to the weak among us and bring them back to the fold.

Coming directly to you from Rome: originally blessed by Pope Francis, it is now also blessed by Pope Leo XIV himself during public audience in St Peter’s Square.
