Landscape Chinese Scroll Painting – Silk Wall Art – Blue-Green Trees Lotus Pond

The blue-green trees lotus pond theme gives this landscape scroll painting its quiet gravity. The work reads as a whole from across the room and rewards a closer look too. It belongs with the best of classical chinese brush painting, the sort that settles into a room from day one.

From the pavilion's terrace, the whole painted world seems to unfold. Mountains dominate the scene, massed in overlapping planes that lead the eye upward. Tiny boats dot the river, each one a few strokes of the brush. The lotus flowers motif is worked into the composition with classical restraint. Colorful ink passages enliven the brushwork, bright without noise. Against the silk ground, the blue-green trees reads clearly at any distance. With the lotus pond, the scene gains a lived-in quality that rewards slow looking.

As chinese painting for home decor, it asks for nothing more than a good wall and soft light. Hang it at eye level, stand back, and let the composition settle around you. It also makes a thoughtful gift for anyone who keeps classical art on their walls.
