Landscape Chinese Scroll Painting – Silk Wall Art – Scholar Pine

In this landscape scroll painting, the scholar pine theme is less depicted than inhabited. The work reads as a whole from across the room and rewards a closer look too. It belongs with the best of asian wall decor, the sort that settles into a room from day one.

Old pines, emblems of steadfastness, hold their ground along the ridge. Ink wash carries the picture, graded from deep black to the palest gray. Solid and unhurried, the mountains give the picture its spine. The scholar adds a quiet accent, handled in the old manner of the brush. The waterfall's descent gives the picture its movement and its music.

It keeps good company with the finest chinese landscape wall art, the kind that rewards daily looking. It is the kind of piece guests ask about, and owners never tire of answering. It makes a gracious gift for weddings and new homes.
